Who

Skills City is open to anyone who wishes to upskill, retrain or start a tech career, especially those from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. It works in partnership with employers, providers, and local authorities to deliver the most relevant and in-demand skills for the local area.

Skills City is headquartered at HOST, the Home of Skills & Technology, in MediaCity, Salford, United Kingdom. It is backed by the Department for Education (DfE) and part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee.

Skills City is a digital education initiative that provides Skills Bootcamps to help people from diverse backgrounds launch or advance their technology careers.


Skills City is a unique, digital skills powerhouse transforming talent diversity nationally.

It provides leading digital technology Skills Bootcamps and with backing from the Department for Education (DfE), Skills City fast-tracks over 1,000 people into technology careers every year.

Open to all, Skills City is for people from even the most diverse of backgrounds who wish to upskill or launch a tech career in areas including Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, Data Analytics and Software Engineering.

Skills City’s Bootcamps are short and intensive courses of up to 16 weeks, designed to help you build up sector-specific skills and prepare you for the workplace. You will learn from experienced instructors, work on real-world projects, and get feedback and guidance from industry mentors. You will also have access to the state-of-the-art facilities and resources at HOST, the Home of Skills & Technology.
Skills City Runway
Skills City’s Bootcamps are not only a great way to learn new skills, but also a gateway to a rewarding career in the digital sector. Upon completion of a Bootcamp, you will receive a certificate of achievement and a guaranteed interview with a local employer. You will also join a network of alumni and peers who can support you in your career journey. Skills City’s Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, which means you may be eligible for funding or financial support to cover the cost of the course.
