Hello, I Am Joshua V

I had always been interested in engineering since I was very young. I was studying my A Levels and came to the conclusion that an Apprenticeship is the best way to get a career in engineering because you gain practical skills alongside the qualification.

Tell us more about your experience

My career in Engineering at Müller so far has been great. I have recently finished the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship with Müller. I have learnt so many great Engineering knowledge and skills whilst working for Müller which lead to me achieving great results in my apprenticeship, both academically and practically. Aside from my day to day role, I have also been given the opportunity to get involved in many projects across the site. I think the highlight of my career so far would be designing and implementing my End Point Assessment project with no support needed.

"Working for Müller is interesting because no two days are the same."

One day you could be carrying out planned mechanical maintenance and the next day you could be involved in a complex electrical machine breakdown. However, there is one thing in common every day within my role and that is the satisfaction I get knowing I have repaired or kept a machine running thanks to the engineering knowledge and skills I have learnt during my apprenticeship.

The biggest challenge in my career so far was adapting to a new way of life after moving 320 miles from North Yorkshire to Somerset at the age of 19 to do the engineering apprenticeship Müller offer.

"I am thankful I made the move to Somerset because it has now set me up with a career in engineering for life."

When starting my apprenticeship at Müller it was a very daunting experience because I had relocated 320 miles from home. However, I was shocked that everyone on site from production operatives all the way up to the senior leadership team were really friendly and couldn’t do enough to support you in your apprenticeship, and learning the equipment on site. If I ever needed anyone’s support, whether it’s small or big I could always rely on my colleagues. It almost feels like a family.

"My top tip for new Müller apprentices would be to not shy away from asking for help or additional training courses."

Müller are willing to help and will invest in their colleagues that show interest. Müller have put me through many additional qualifications and courses which have aided me to become a better engineer.
