That’s right… From September 2023 the opportunity to start an apprenticeship training as a doctor will be here!

The Medical Doctor Degree Apprenticeship offers NHS organizations the chance to grow the UK medical workforce and opens up the opportunity for people to access alternative routes to the medical profession.

Like other apprenticeships, apprentices will study and work at the same time, allowing them to put into practice all they’ve learned while continuing to professionally grow. The same training and the same high standard as a more traditional route will apply. Much like other apprenticeships candidates will be able to study and work at the same time, allowing them to put into practice what they are learning while continuing to professionally grow. And all training is developed to meet the requirements set out by the General Medical Council.

And of course, like all good apprenticeships, you’ll earn while you learn, so no student debt!

With the shortage of medical professionals in the UK, this apprenticeship feels like great timing. This is a big positive step forward for those who might want to pursue a less traditional route into a medical degree or for those who have previous clinical experience and want to expand their skill sets.
