Depending on the type of diving you do, you could:
You’d normally be self-employed as a commercial diver. With experience and further training, you could move into roles with extra responsibility and more pay, like life support technician or diving supervisor. If working in a dive centre you could move into a management role. You could also set up a business, or work in a related field where diving skills are necessary, like swimming pool engineering or maintenance.
Emergency medical dispatchers handle calls from the public and GPs requesting an ambulance.
Royal Air Force (RAF) airmen and airwomen use specialist skills for support roles in defence and peacekeeping missions.
Clock and watch repairers mend and restore clocks and watches.
Nuclear technicians maintain equipment and monitor radiation levels in nuclear power stations.
Electronics engineers design and develop systems for industry, from mobile communications to manufacturing and aerospace.
Vending machine operators fill, maintain and collect money from machines that dispense products like drinks and snacks.
This role is based within our Customer Connections Team. This is the department that connects customers such as data centres, battery storage projects, offshore wind farms, transport networks and solar farms to the electricity transmission network.
Your apprenticeship will last 48 months, and successful apprentices will achieve a Utilities Engineering Technician, Level: 3 standard, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships.
