Court legal advisers are trained lawyers who advise magistrates and district judges about the law.

The legal adviser career structure has 5 levels, known as tiers. On any tier, you could become a mentor. To move up, you'll need to prove your ability in your current role. With 5 years' experience, you could become a deputy district judge or district judge (magistrates' courts). With more experience, you could become a justices' clerk (running several courts).
You could also apply for legal and non-legal secondments within the wider departments of Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS), the Ministry of Justice and other government agencies. Another option is to move into private practice as a solicitor or barrister, or join the Crown Prosecution Service as a crown prosecutor or crown advocate.
Victim care officers support people who've been affected by crime.
Trade mark attorneys advise clients about registering and protecting designs and trade marks.
Immigration advisers give advice on asylum claims, nationality, citizenship, deportation and employment, and represent clients in court.
Bailiffs visit properties to collect debts, serve court documents or give notices or summons.
Barristers give specialist legal advice, advising solicitors and representing people in court, at tribunals and in public inquiries.
Equalities officers promote practices and attitudes to make sure all people are treated equally within organisations.

Our Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme is a career pathway for people seeking to qualify as a solicitor without having to attend university full-time. The programme lasts six years, during which time you will be working across a range of teams, whilst studying one-day a week with BPP University Law School. Throughout the six years, you will earn a competitive salary and we will also cover your entire tuition fees. Furthermore, you will receive guidance and feedback from your work-based supervisor, as well as ongoing support from a dedicated BPP Study Coach. At the end of the programme, you will obtain an LLB (Hons) law degree and the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE), giving you the same qualifications as our trainee solicitors.
