As a road worker, you could:
With experience, you could be a road works team supervisor, known as a 'ganger', or become a highways technician, helping to design road improvements.
Motor vehicle fitters repair and replace worn or damaged tyres, exhausts, batteries and parts.
Marine engineering technicians design, build, service and repair boats and ships.
Railway signallers operate the signals and points on rail tracks to keep trains running safely and on time.
Engineering craft machinists make parts for manufacturing and engineering industries, using lathes, cutters and grinders.
Security systems installers fit and service electronic systems that detect intruders or control access to buildings and sites.
Construction plant mechanics service and repair heavy plant machinery like diggers, dumper trucks and cranes.
To apply you will need to have attained, or expect to attain by July 2025, either:1.A Degree; or2.A Level 4 5 qualification (plus 2 years relevant industry experience)Your qualification will be In one of the following appropriate engineering subjects*: -Physics -Computer Sciences -Mathematics -Engineering and Technology (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Telecommunications)Starting salary circa 37,000 (increasing to circa 43,000 on successful completion of the Programme)
