Description

We are looking for a competent individual either with previous experience in an accountancy practice or an individual who is looking to start their accountancy career.

A Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship would be considered for an applicant with experience or previous qualification.

The role will entail accounting and taxation work for a portfolio of clients working on various software packages, excel & client paper records. There will also be other ad hoc duties, which may include some bookkeeping, VAT and payroll depending on the candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Chasing clients for their information and dealing with client queries
  • Bookkeeping duties including the reviewing of bookkeeping software to ensure financial information is up-to-date, accurate and free from error
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns to HMRC
  • Preparation and submission of statutory accounts to Companies House
  • Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns to HMRC
  • Preparation and submission of self-assessment tax returns to HMRC
  • Assistance with preparation of P11D forms
  • Dealing and corresponding with HMRC
  • General administrative duties and other duties as assigned


The successful applicant will need to:

  • Be a qualified accountant to AAT or above or be willing to work towards achieving such qualifications
  • Have an aptitude for figures and an interest in business and commerce
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

The successful applicant will need to:

  • Have an aptitude for figures and an interest in business and commerce

  • Have the ability and maturity to work in a fast-paced environment with effective time management skills, as the role requires the meeting of deadlines
Level 2 a minimum of English and maths grades A*- D (9-5) (or equivalent) are desirable or willingness to complete Functional Skills Level 1/2

The successful candidate will work towards completing the Level 3 Finance Assistant Standard from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education. Delivered by Blackpool and The Fylde College offering expert tuition and exceptional facilities.

Off-the-job training

Developing your skills at work is called on-the-job training, 20% of your apprenticeship (equal to one full day a week) will be ‘off-the-job’. This might include attending College, tackling projects, online learning, coaching, shadowing, or training for your job.

Stacks of support

Assessment mostly takes place in the workplace. When you start, you will be allocated a skills coach, who will visit you at least once a month to guide and support you and help you to plan for your future. We will also provide you with specialist support for your English and maths and for any additional needs that you make us aware of.
