Description

The role of a Leisure Assistant is to help deliver a safe and enjoyable experience to our customers within our Leisure Centres.

The role comprises of Lifeguarding duties, Swim Teaching, Sports Coaching, Gym Instructing as well as general front of house duties such as membership sales, till work and basic admin.

There will also be a requirement to carry out some housekeeping tasks to ensure the centre remains clean and safe for our customers

Main Duties and Responsibilities -

(Once qualified) - To supervise swimming activities and provide a safe pool area for users, ensuring that policies, guidelines and safety procedures are followed

(Once qualified) - To assist with delivering inductions and personal programmes in the gym

(Once qualified) - To deliver swimming lessons and sports coaching

To ensure that strict health and safety regulations are adhered to, drawing attention to any unsafe practices

To administer first aid in the event of injury, and as and when required

To prepare and set up equipment where needed for group and individual sessions

To help take bookings for lessons/clubs/classes

To assist the front of house team as and when required

To ensure that the centre is clean and tidy at all times

Acting as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the people you work with

As an apprentice with Active Torridge you will work towards your Leisure Team Member L2 Qualification over the course of 15 months.

To be considered for this role, you must be a strong and confident swimmer. If you are invited to interview for this role you will be required to complete a swim test as part of the interview process. - Jump/dive into deep water - Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds - Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water and then tread water for 30 seconds - Surface dive to floor of pool (deepest part)
No Qualifications Required - All Training Will Be Provided.
Leisure Team Member Apprenticeship L2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English
-Friendly and outgoing -Flexible and able to work some early and evening shifts as well as some weekend work. -An interest in sport and health
-Ability progress on to become a Trainee Duty Manager, Personal Trainer or Swimming Coach.
