Salary:

  • Until completion of phase two training: £25,200 + benefits
  • After technical training: £27,200 + benefits

(After one year of service and completing Professional Workplace Assessments on first posting)

What You Will Do:


  • Handle very dangerous equipment.
  • Arm aircraft with bombs, guided weapons, and missiles.
  • Service, maintain, and repair ejection seats, aircraft gun systems, and missile launchers.
  • Maintain, handle, and issue weapons used by your station.
  • Build and fit smart weapons and decoy flares onto aircraft.

  • Be aged 16 – 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday)
  • Be a citizen of the UK, Republic of Ireland, a Commonwealth citizen since birth (with ‘right to work’ immigration status) or holder of dual UK/ other nationality
  • Commit to minimum 3 years post specialist training
  • Pass the Defence Aptitude Assessment
  • Pass a Fitness test

  • GCSE grade C/4 or Scottish National 5 grade C in English language, Mathematics and an approved Science/Technology-based subject.


  • If a candidate lacks either GCSE English or Maths (but not both), they must complete the DAA and achieve Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths or English during Phase 1 training at RAF Halton before entering Phase 2. Failure to achieve the required academic standard may result in the candidate being discharged from the Service.
