About the employer: 
We are a medium sized IT support company with over 25 years’ experience support local small to medium businesses. We have 8 engineers and an admin team supporting over 150 companies, mostly local although we have some national customers.



We are based outside of Ipswich in a rural setting with relatively easy access from the main routes.



Overview:
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 



The role is within the support team alongside current senior engineers. We have 8 engineers covering over 150 customers and you have the opportunity to get involved with an array of jobs from desktop features to enterprise servers. You will get first-hand experience in cloud technologies, cyber security and project planning and installations.



Salary: £15,000 per annum.



Responsibilities:





  • Provide first line support via telephone and remote software to customers 


  • Diagnose and resolving where possible or escalating accordingly 


  • Update company systems, opening/closing and following up on events/jobs 


  • Manage Customer IT documentation 


  • Proactively be aware of security and compliance and raising issues where appropriate 


  • Undertake any other related duties consistent with the post as directed by management 




Although these are not exhaustive day-to-day tasks, each day is different and you will be working in a support department alongside all levels of support engineer.

It would be highly beneficial if you can drive / have your own vehicle as travelling will be key to the role.



Entry requirements:





  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject


  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)


  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.



If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?





  • We would be looking to keep the apprentice on as a full-time engineer, should they complete the program.


  • On completion, a job offer would be made with a review of pay and responsibilities, along with future path within the company.
