Description

Bethany Medical Centre is a small but busy medical centre in St Helens, with a population list of 4,200 patients

They are looking for a professional, courteous apprentice to join the team as an Apprentice receptionist.

Main duties and responsibilities;

Opening/locking up of the practice premises & maintaining security

Working with Clinicians in Reception, total triage basis

Receiving patients, consulting with the practice team, and booking appointments

Signposting patients to most appropriate service

Handle general enquiries via telephone and face-to-face and update patients notes accordingly

Process repeat and acute prescriptions checking names and addresses

Preparation of appropriate recall letters

Take appropriate action if a visit is urgent or a patient becomes ill in the surgery

Deal with incoming/outgoing post, clinical waste and patient samples

Process new patient forms and online access forms

Keep reception area, notice boards, waiting room and leaflet dispensers tidy

Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required

Applicants must have good customer care and customer service skills

A good level of computer skills is required

A polite telephone manner and understand the importance of confidentiality

You must have the ability to work well as part of a small team and must be flexible to fulfil the shift requirements

Good attendance record

Good work ethic

GCSE Level 4 or Grade C & Above in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Bethany medical centre will provide you with all of the on the job training you need to upskill in your role, and your 20% off the job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day. If successful, you will complete a Customer Service apprenticeship standard delivered through Bethany medical centre's dedicated training provider, Realise.

Demonstrates enthusiasm for working in primary care, with a genuine interest in working with patients and contributing to the delivery of high-quality health care

Professional, courteous, and confident and able to work well under pressure

Friendly, positive, and mature attitude is required

Onsite parking is available and DBS check will be required and at least two references. Close to town centre, with bus and train links. Bus stop outside of the practice.
