Description
This role is for an ATV Technician Apprenticeship.
The qualification you will receive is a Motorcycle Level 3.
A motorcycle technician services and repairs motorcycles, motorised scooters, all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s), tricycles and vehicles where the rider sits astride the frame, within either the franchised or independent motorcycle sector.
A motorcycle technician works on all of the systems of the motorcycle. The nature of the work ranges from replacing components through to rectifying complex faults with the aid of specific diagnostic methods and equipment. Motorcycles require individual set up and adjustment in relation to rider requirements which range from leisure, commuting, commercial and competition use.

Training will be provided both in the workplace and at our state of the art facility in Doncaster.
All we ask is that you are committed to the Apprenticeship Programme for 3 years and have the passion and ambition to grow into a highly skilled Motorcycle Service Technician.
You will also be required to have a grade 4 or above in maths & English at GCSE level or equivalent.
Duties:
- Repairing engines, brakes, electrical systems, ignition systems, fuel injection systems, plugs and carburettors
- Doing inspections and routine services
- Fitting tyres
- Customising or fitting accessories to motorcycles
- Advising customers of necessary repairs and giving an estimate of cost and time
- Reading and following manuals, worksheets & technical drawings
- Using hand and power tools such as wrenches, drills and welding equipment
- Using computerised diagnostic equipment
This means your residential based training will be delivered away from home and you will be required to stay in a hotel for separate training blocks over the 3 year duration of the course.
All associated costs for training are met by the employer/the programme and there will be no cost to yourself/your parents or guardians.
Support will be provided by the workplace mentor and by your dedicated trainer.

- Functional Skills in English & Maths Level 2 (if required)

No specific skills are required, however an interest in a career in the automotive industry/motor vehicles is essential.

Today’s motorcycle technician has to demonstrate expertise in the technical side of their role. They need strong problem solving skills and a good grasp of the theoretical, practical and safety aspects of motorcycle systems.
They must be able to work independently and also operate as an effective team member, understand how their workshop and a motorcycle business functions from a commercial perspective, develop good customer handling skills and identify ways in which they can work efficiently.
