Description

Main duties will include:

  • Reseeding tees
  • Maintaining bunkers
  • Strimming and flymowing
  • Changing hole positions and moving markers
  • There will also be the opportunity to learn how to operate selected machinery, such as hand-mowers, greens/fairways/tees mowers and tractors

Maths and English A-C,4+ or equivalent

Lower grades will be considered after sitting a Shipley College Skills assessment.
  • Golf Greenkeeper Level 2 Standard
  • The College will deliver theory and practical sessions to support the apprentice to be able to achieve the End Point Assessment after 24 months, to be able to have a greater knowledge and understanding of the role of Golf Greenkeeper
  • The College will help develop the apprentices skills maintaining and caring for the overall appearance of the golf course. This will involve applying turf treatments and controlling weeds, fungal diseases, pests and turf disorders and maintaining drainage and irrigation systems
  • Maths and English Functional Skills if required
  • Training by day release at Shipley College
  • Enthusiastic
  • Team-player with good communication skills
  • An interest/knowledge of golf is an advantage

Career progression, potential to become a first assistant green keeper on successful completion of the apprenticeship
