About AWE

AWE’s support for the government’s strategy takes many facets: from supporting the weapon programme for the nuclear deterrent, supporting the UK’s counter terrorist programme, identifying where there may be nuclear tests taking place around the world, and building an expert group of individuals in order to give the UK real depth in nuclear science and technology.

Start an extraordinary career at AWE; grow your skills, learn from industry experts and become part of a community at one of the most unique companies in the UK.

About the role

AWE are looking for individuals to join their facilities management team, who work every day to maintain the safety, security, and wellbeing, of both buildings, and teams who work in them. This team plays a key role in delivering their mission and ensuring they're compliant with government regulations.

As an apprentice, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted aspects of workplace management such as managing welfare concerns, undertaking risk-based inspections, supporting emergency training exercises, managing, and authorising new works requests. The facilities management role at AWE covers a diverse set of skills and duties, across a variety of new and older facilities. One day you could be working with data to identify trends, the next you’ll be in a workshop solving issues for your building’s customers. AWE's Facilities Management apprenticeship scheme is devised to place a strong emphasis on the practical application of the skills you will learn and the knowledge you will develop, ensuring that you will be well-versed with a functional understanding of facilities management, but also to develop an extensive understanding of how AWE operates.

AWE's apprenticeship is a gateway into varied and broad career opportunities, and through a series of placements you’ll get breadth of experience across all of AWE’s teams and functions. You’ll support Senior Managers in delivering a flexible, varied and robust service, and as such you’ll need to be a good team player as well as be able to self-motivate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.

During your apprenticeship journey, you will gain the following skills:

· Stakeholder management

· Customer focus and influencing

· Safety awareness in an operational environment

· Problem solving and analytical thinking

· Working independently and as part of team

· How to be curious and positively challenge in an operational and fast-paced environment

In addition, you will be given the opportunity for personal development through activities such as team building challenges, organisational awareness presentations, health and safety workshops and charity projects.

The Benefits

· A starting salary of £22250 yearly, increasing annually throughout your apprenticeship

· Market leading contributory pension scheme

· Generous holiday entitlement of 270 hours a year (inclusive of Bank Holidays) plus every other Friday off

· Access to employee discounts portal - everyday savings on retail, hospitality and leisure
