AWE offers a unique opportunity to start an extraordinary career. Join a community of professionals, develop invaluable skills, learn from industry experts, and become part of one of the most distinctive organisations in the UK.
About the Role
As a Design and Construction Management Degree Apprentice, you will complete the following:
- BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology
- Day-release degree study, with the remainder of your time spent gaining practical experience (flexible to employer requirements)
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
- Inquiry-led constructive learning and technology-based assessments
- Training in nuclear behavioural culture, safety, and security
- Employer-focused contextual learning
During this apprenticeship, you will develop design, technical, and management skills, applying scientific principles and practical knowledge to construct buildings that meet performance criteria. You will also gain proficiency in 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and visualisation, acquire knowledge of design details, and learn how to manage contracts and projects in line with client requirements and regulatory standards.
You will undertake professional engineering placements in various industrial areas, including explosive processing buildings, infrastructure, utilities, and nuclear installations. These placements will give you insight into the unique challenges and safety requirements of delivering engineering services in such environments, covering the entire engineering lifecycle—from design and construction to commissioning and operations.
Upon completing your placements, your final role will be chosen based on business needs and your career aspirations. You will then complete your training as a professional engineer in that field.
After the apprenticeship, you will possess the skills to lead, manage, and coordinate activities within the design and construction environments for building and infrastructure projects. You will act as a crucial link between designers (architects, engineers), construction teams, and project stakeholders.
