To assist with residents care and other duties as directed
by Senior Carer/Care Team Leaders/Registered Nurse
Key duties and responsibilities:
Clinical:
1. Accurately and promptly carry out the delegated tasks as directed by senior carers/registered nurses who are professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
2. Deliver a high standard of individualised personal care to residents, promoting their equality and dignity at all times.
3. Report to senior staff any resident who gives cause for concern or
any observed changes in the resident’s condition.
4. Respond correctly to clinical emergencies to ensure the resident receives appropriate care.
5. Chaperone/escort residents as directed by registered staff.
6. Assist with resident’s personal care, mobility and physical comfort, nutritional needs, whilst observing and reporting specific changes.
7. Assist residents who are distressed and provide support for the family and /or friends.
8. Perform and report clinical observations of resident’s temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels. Obtain measurements of resident’s height and weight.
9. Obtain and record urine, stool and sputum specimens and perform urinalysis.
10. Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
11. Maintain a safe environment ensuring the clinical area is clean and tidy.

2. All staff have a responsibility to comply with the current infection prevention and control policies, procedures and standards and ensure they have received and annual update on infection prevention and control issues including hand hygiene. All staff should practice and encourage appropriate hand hygiene and act professionally to ensure the Home’s environment is clean, safe and tidy.
3. To perform your duties to the highest standard with particular regard to effective and efficient use of resources, maintaining quality and contributing to improvements.
4. To follow all Roebuck’s safety policies and procedures and be vigilant to ensure the safety and secure environment for care.
5. All staff that have access to or transfers any data are responsible for those data, it must be kept secure and they must comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1988 and the common law on confidentiality. All data must be kept in line with Roebuck’s policies and procedures. Data includes all types i.e. resident, employee, financial, electronic, hard copies of printed data or handwritten data etc.
6. The post holder is responsible for data quality and complying with the policies, procedures and accountability arrangements throughout the Home for maintaining accuracy and probity in the recording of the Home’s activities.
