Overview: 
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Information Technology and Digital Services at Teesside University as a Level 7 Apprentice. 



This will allow the individual not only to secure a fantastic job opportunity within a prestigious University but also work towards a full funded MSc Digital & Technology Solutions Specialist Masters Degree and become a specialist in IT operations, cloud services, applications and platform enablement.



Title: Level 7 Apprentice IT Technician (Platform Enablement)



Salary: £26,038 - £30,505 per annum.



Duties: [you will:] 





  • Develop technical capabilities in the areas of the Computing, IT and Digital Technology


  • Understand the principles governing modern approaches to the management of IT enabled operations


  • Support the design and implementation of short and long-term IT infrastructure strategic plans for implementing digital technologies that support organisational goals, strategies & practices


  • Develop critical problem solving skills to analyse complex problems and develop solutions based on cutting edge research and practise


  • Develop digital leadership skills alongside technical capabilities


  • Support the transition from on-campus to modern cloud platform services in area of specialism 


  • Develop and deliver presentations which resonate with both business and technical stakeholders, framing complex technical areas to support decision making




Desirable skills: 





  • Planning and organising - ability to follow instructions in identifying and responding to complex issues and assignments 


  • Analysis and problem solving - apply appropriate tools and techniques to gather information to troubleshoot issues and isolate, repair or escalate faults 


  • Knowledge and experience - ability to demonstrate practical application of knowledge 


  • Communication skills - vocal and written / Ability to communicate effectively and talk with customers about technical and non-technical information




Liaison and networking - some experience of interacting directly with end users for projects is desirable, but is not essential. 



Personal qualities: 





  • Good interpersonal skills - with ability to interact with and influence colleagues


  • Team player - who will contribute to work of the team and actively participate in team activities




Entry requirements:





  • Honours degree (2:2 or above) in an appropriate Computing, Technology or Engineering discipline


  • In order to attempt the EPA apprentices must have achieved GCSE Maths and English at Grade C – you may still enter the programme but will need to evidence Level 2 Maths and English qualification before starting the gateway and EPA




Non-standard entry: 





  • Relevant qualifications and/or work experience will be taken into consideration where the applicant has the judged potential to benefit from the programme. Requests will be considered on an individual basis where appropriate.




Informal Interviews: [will be held where:] 





  • The suitability of a candidate is in doubt and further evidence is sought.


  • The candidate presents an unusual set of qualifications taken or pending, and an appropriate conditional offer needs to be determined.


  • Candidates may need advice on the appropriateness of the programme.


  • Applicants invited for an informal interview will always be informed of its purpose.




End Point Assessment: 





  • You must be able to evidence level 2 English and Maths before you start your End Point Assessment. You may still be begin the programme without these but must obtain the qualifications in order to begin the EPA.
