Day to day duties include;
•Observe and help plan/carryout activities with the children that are developmentally appropriate for groups and individuals whilst providing a balance of indoor/outdoor learning opportunities
•To write reports- for key children, 2 year old reports, school leaver reports and those requested by other professionals. You must accurately complete all in-house nursery paperwork.

•Encourage children to contribute to activities: ideas, practical eg: paint mixing, tidying up and to develop their confidence and independence amongst their peers/with adults. Set a good example by engaging with children at all times, especially mealtimes and providing a good balance of adult and child led play.
•Liaise with parents and feedback accurately on the child’s day. Set up parents meetings and record any new information provided by parents eg; changes to a child’s diet, making colleagues aware of these changes where appropriate. Offer opportunities to involve parents in nursery life. Contact parents if children are ill or have accidents and care properly for the child during the interim period before collection. When children move rooms you will need to prepare a plan to help children settle into their new rooms with the new keyworker and parents.
•Ensure the children are collected by known and authorised adults
•Undertake mentoring and initial training of students and new staff. Helping staff/students settle into the nursery and familiarise themselves with all aspects of the work until deemed competent.
