Role:

This is a new role for a senior test engineer with experience of leading a team while being “hands on“ themselves and assigned to a team.

You will be involved in performing testing within agile teams who are developing new capabilities for the flagship Schneider Home Energy Management System (HEMS) platform prior to delivery for end to end testing by the separate end to end test teams.

In this role you will be hands on, taking ownership of and helping ensure that best testing practice is implemented by the test engineers across all squads and will lead that initiative by consistently demonstrating examples of best practice.

In this role you will interact regularly with members of other teams and other disciplines along with the end to end test teams, end to end test lead and the test manager.

This role requires proven experience as a senior test engineer with leadership capability, a strong sense of ownership and pride in your performance, the performance of others and its impact on the product success.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead experienced but less senior test engineers working in other squads, provide mentoring and help ensure adherence with agreed test processes.

· Work collaboratively and productively with software developers and other roles in the agile teams e.g. Scrum Masters, .

· Attend 3 amigos sessions and work closely with members of the systems engineering team to ensure business and engineering requirements are understood while supporting less senior test engineers do the same.

· Analyse user stories/use cases/requirements for validity, feasibility and traceability to tests.

· Create and execute all levels of testing (e.g. Functional, System, Integration, Performance and Regression) as far as possible within squad with a “shift left“ mindset in preparation for delivery of high quality software to end to end test teams.

· Perform a lead role in evolving and tuning the test approach and strategy as required within an agile methodology for project delivery.

· Ensure good adherence to agreed process by test engineers across all teams and ensure good test discipline is followed by test engineers.

Skills and attributes:

· In this role you will be dealing with complexity, analysing information, implementing the agreed test strategies for testing within the agile squads during development and co-ordinating with business stakeholders.

· You will own the day-to-day leadership of the “in squad” test engineers. In that capacity you will require excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.

· To thrive in this key role within the Engineering department you will need the ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and pride in your performance, that of other members of the team and its impact on the success of the delivery

· You will be a critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance the leadership aspects of this role with the hands-on commitments.

Education/Qualifications:

· You will possess a Degree or post-graduate qualification in Computer Science or an Engineering Discipline or have relevant experience.

· You will have around 8 years of proven experience as a Software Test Engineer and have had experience leading small teams for at least 2 years.

· To thrive in this role you will be driven to continually improve the software quality of the releases to the end to end test teams and ultimately our customers, to refine test processes and provide effective support to test engineers without unnecessary burden and to support the Test Manager develop and grow the test teams beyond their current capabilities.

· You will have demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-team test engineers toward task completion

· You will have demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills

· ISTQB Certification to at least Foundation level would be advantageous
