Role Summary:

Salary:- Year 1: £31,000
- Year 2: £32,250
Location:- Primary: London-based
- Working Model: Hybrid working, with a balance of up to 50% remote working. Flexible arrangements may evolve based on business needs.
Role Details:Job Overview:Engineers at TfL tackle projects spanning diverse areas, including:
- Upgrading the Piccadilly Line with modern trains and signalling systems.
- Promoting sustainability through Bus Electrification and Infrastructure Carbon Modelling.
- Enhancing Step-Free Access for better accessibility across the transport network.
Graduates work in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams to ensure efficient, innovative, and sustainable solutions for London’s transport network.
Sustainability Focus:Every project is designed with sustainability in mind, contributing to decarbonisation and improving public health.
Placements & Streams:Graduates rotate through 8 placements (approximately 3 months each) to gain a comprehensive skillset. Streams include:
Electrical Engineering:
- Focus on electric drive systems, power network upgrades, and renewable energy connections.
- Examples: Charging infrastructure for electric buses, power distribution for trains.
Systems Engineering:
- Emphasis on integration and cross-modal project lifecycle phases.
- Examples: Systems integration on major transport upgrades, quality assurance in design.
Technology Engineering:
- Developing solutions using augmented reality, AI, and advanced communication networks.
- Examples: Testing autonomous vehicle systems, cybersecurity solutions for transport assets.
Development Opportunities:Graduates may customise their placement journey and even explore non-engineering roles, such as project sponsorship or leadership pathways, depending on their aspirations.

- Medical Clearance: Must pass health assessments (drug screening, vision/hearing tests).
