Description

Kingwood Thoroughbred are a family run pre-training and training yard based in fantastic facilities in Lambourn.

This would be a riding position for someone looking to earn whilst gaining valuable experience, starting off youngsters and also riding the older horses that are in training.

The apprenticeship provides a solid introduction to the racing industry, and also fulfils the criteria from the BHA to enable you to apply for a jockey licence. All training and learning will take place at Kingwood Thoroughbred, within your paid working hours.

There is a rehabilitation arm to the facility which would give the candidate extra experience if this is of interest.

They are looking for someone with a good sense of humour, who is willing to muck in as and when the team requires it. Prior experience is a must.

Previous experience of riding thoroughbreds would be preferred although other ridden experience from another discipline would be considered.

Maths and English GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent is desired but not essential.

If not already achieved, applicants will be fully supported to achieve their maths and English functional skills.


You will be working towards the advanced Level 3 Senior Equine Groom -Racing or riding apprenticeship with Haddon Training and the employer. All training will be provided at the employer's premises.

Hardworking, polite and good sense of humour with a willingness to learn.

The chance to travel abroad and progress into future roles when the apprenticeship is completed.

Due to age of existing staff in the hostel this position is for 18's and over only . Good accommodation available on-site in our purpose built hostel, where you will have your own room; there is also no charge for the accommodation.
