Description

The Animal Carer is a key role to the operations of the store, being the first point of contact and having a duty of care for all animals housed.

The Animal Carer will provide to all husbandry and welfare needs, while being responsible for ensuring internal livestock documentation is carried out and completed accurately on a day to day basis, having a responsibility to follow and abide by ‘The Five Animal Needs’.

The Animal Carer will lead by example to ensure all livestock welfare standards and policies are followed and met, while supporting and maintaining a well-presented store with the smooth running of day-to-day activities.

No specific skills required - some retail experience may be beneficial but full training will be provided.
GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English, or a willingness to complete the equivalent functional skills.
All training will be provided by Haddon Training on site
We are looking for apprentices to join our team who are above all reliable and enthusiastic.

We are fully prepared to offer support to ensure your success within our business but we ask that you are passionate about the work you are completing and that you are punctual and reliable with your shifts.

Apprentices are quite often offered permanent positions following successful completion of their apprenticeship and positive reviews.

In the last 12 months we have offered permanent positions to 3 apprentices, one of whom is now a Supervisor. 1 is still carrying out her apprenticeship and 1 chose to move into a different field after completion.

For on-going development we offer fully funded external courses for employees in birds, fish, reptiles and more.

Work hours will be 30 per week, Monday to Sunday with 2 varying days off each week
