Role Mission:

As a Panel Wire Apprentice, you will master the construction and assembly of high-quality electrical panels that are integral to Schneider Electric’s cutting-edge solutions. Through hands-on training, attention to precision, and a commitment to safety and innovation, you will help deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable electrical distribution solutions. This will empower Schneider Electric to lead the way in energy management and automation.


Key Responsibilities:

Hands-on Training: Receive practical training in workshop, technical, and commercial environments to understand how the business works and how systems and processes are connected.

Continued Education: Attend classes one day a week to study electrical or mechanical subjects and work towards a BTEC NVQ qualification or higher, as required.

Process Improvement: Participate in the Schneider Performance System (SPS) and support improvement projects to enhance company processes.

Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following health and safety standards and adhering to company rules.

Safe Working Practices: Always prioritise safety, keeping yourself and others in mind while following Schneider Electric’s health and safety guidelines.

Standard Procedures: Ensure quality and consistency in your work by adhering to the company’s standard procedures.

Knowledge Sharing: Assist with the training of others and share your knowledge to support team development.

Team Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues across different teams to achieve shared goals and complete tasks.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including Maths (higher paper), English, and a science-related subject.
  • A demonstrable interest in engineering.


No previous experience is required.

Training Provider: Derwent Training, Scarborough - Day release (Training Providers could be subject to change based on availability of course or organisational needs).


During your apprenticeship, you will receive two types of training.


On-the-job training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, your employer. You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform your role. This will include skills and knowledge that are outside of the apprenticeship but necessary for the job. In addition to ‘on-the-job’ training, they will support you in other ways to ensure your success. Types of support will include:

  • A comprehensive induction
  • Mentoring or regular one-to-one guidance
  • Social enrichment and networking opportunities
  • Performance reviews
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Feedback opportunities

Off-the-job training will be provided by a carefully selected training provider during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% of your working hours (approximately 6 hours per week) completing ‘off-the-job’ training. This is protected time and a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard, enabling you to achieve occupational competence.

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship and depending on your performance, there may be an opportunity for you to transition into a permanent role at Schneider Electric!
