Work Pattern: Site Based


Role Mission:

As an IT Technician Apprentice, you will be exposed to both the IT support and the Network and Cybersecurity teams covering Operational Technology (OT). With the rise of digital applications, cybersecurity requirements, and factory automation, there is an essential need for a dedicated IT/Digital technician to support on-site IT operations, working alongside the Network and Cybersecurity Lead.

Through hands-on experience, you will develop a deep understanding of technology infrastructure and support systems while providing exceptional service and technical expertise to support Schneider Electric’s digital operations. Through continuous development and a commitment to innovation, you will contribute to a secure, reliable, and efficient IT environment, enabling Schneider Electric's global workforce to reach its full potential through technology.


Key Responsibilities:

IT Support: Provide IT support for PC issues faced by employees.

Cybersecurity Assistance: Assist in addressing known cybersecurity threats.

PC Configuration: Configure PCs in Operational Technology (OT) with Schneider Electric's image and security protocols.

Desktop Support: Offer basic desktop support.

Networking Support: Support networking aspects within operations.

IT Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve IT technical issues.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including Mathematics and English.
  • A STEM-related subject is desired but not essential.


No previous experience is required.

Training Provider: Learn Tech - Live, Virtual Delivery Model (Training Providers could be subject to change based on availability of course or organisational needs).


During your apprenticeship, you will receive two types of training.


On-the-job training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, your employer. You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform your role. This will include skills and knowledge that are outside of the apprenticeship but necessary for the job. In addition to ‘on-the-job’ training, they will support you in other ways to ensure your success. Types of support will include:

  • A comprehensive induction
  • Mentoring or regular one-to-one guidance
  • Social enrichment and networking opportunities
  • Performance reviews
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Feedback opportunities

Off-the-job training will be provided by a carefully selected training provider during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% of your working hours (approximately 6 hours per week) completing ‘off-the-job’ training. This is protected time and a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard, enabling you to achieve occupational competence.

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship and depending on your performance, there may be an opportunity for you to transition into a permanent role at Schneider Electric!
