Transport for London’s Technology & Data (T&D) teams unlock the potential of technology for customers, colleagues, and the city of London. This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to support the Business Analysis team, working on a variety of exciting projects, such as:
- Expanding contactless ticketing technology to National Rail stations
- Upgrading Automatic Vehicle Location technology, which tracks London buses
- Protecting TfL through Cyber Security initiatives
- Implementing a single Asset Management system, helping to generate millions of pounds in savings
Across TfL, numerous technology projects are enhancing operations, keeping London moving and growing. These projects would not be possible without the involvement and groundwork undertaken by Business Analysts.

What Will You Be Doing?
This 18-month development programme consists of three placements, each lasting six months. These placements provide hands-on experience and a solid foundation in business analysis, while also allowing apprentices to explore different TfL departments.
Example Placement Rotations:
- Business Analysis Team (6 months)
Developing core Business Analysis (BA) skills, such as requirement elicitation, documentation, and business process mapping
Engaging with stakeholders and identifying opportunities for business improvement
- Two Additional Placements (6 months each)
Tailored to the apprentice’s interests, potential placements include:
Technology & Data (T&D): Business Architecture, Software Development, Digital, Data & Analytics, Payments Agreements
Other TfL Teams: Open Innovation, Compliance, Policing, Operations & Security, and Elizabeth Line Business
Throughout these placements, apprentices will gain valuable experience in technology projects and business process improvements, contributing to TfL’s success and customer experience.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold or be working towards a minimum of two GCSEs (Grade 4/C and above) in Maths and English Language, plus
- Have two A-Levels (Grades A-D)* or an equivalent qualification, such as:
- BTEC Extended Diploma (Grades DDD* to MMM)
- T-Levels (Grades Distinction* to Pass)
- International Baccalaureate (45 to 24 points)
Applicants are not eligible for this scheme if they currently hold or are working towards a qualification at the same or higher level in a related subject or have already studied content from this qualification.
There is no upper age limit to apply—applications are welcomed from experienced candidates or those looking to change careers.
Applicants must be 18 years old by September 2025 to be eligible.
