Description

The Apprenticeships are full-time, with four days per week spent working in a C4 department and one day per week completing the formal learning parts of the apprenticeship. You’ll spend 60% of your working week in your office base and 40% working from home.

The formal training provided will consist of workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and in some cases residential boot camps. You can read more about the qualification being offered for this apprenticeship below.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES 


  • Assist the Insight function with reporting and analysis of the performance of C4’s linear, streaming, short-form and social media content and transforming it into meaningful insight.
  • Help colleagues to use data to drive the strategy of Channel 4, based on analysis, experimentation, and competitive intelligence
  • To help integrate the performance of our data across streaming, social and linear and bring together meaningful stories from these datasets.
  • Work with your line manager to set benchmarks and targets for digital strategies, building automated ways to measure them, and reporting them back to key stakeholders
  • Support the team to conducting competitor analysis on other content types, brands, channels using the insights to guide digital content strategies
  • Highlighting content trends in ongoing output, and proactively anticipating industry trends
  • Supporting product and social decisions and assist in defining and challenging new tactics and strategies via creative thinking.
  • Learn to develop dashboards using data visualisation tools such as Tableau and PowerBI, and programming languages such as SQL, Python and R.

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

    The Strategy, Policy & Insight team provides expert advice bringing expert strategy, policy, market & audience insight – challenging and advising the business to drive delivery of Channel 4’s strategy and remit. The new Audience Insights team is focused on using data to support Channel 4’s creative and business decisions. They provide a clear and unified view, challenging and advising the business to ensure profitable business growth through the use of data.

    In the new centralised Insights model at Channel 4, each senior leader (like the CEO and other C-Suite members) has a dedicated Insight Business Partner (BP). The BP works with them to prioritize their insights based on Channel 4's strategy. The BP Analysts provide available analysis, and if more specialized research is needed, the BP will arrange this with the relevant expert. The BP also helps present the findings and recommendations to the senior leadership team.

  • Verbal and written communication skills – Verbal: e.g. experience dealing with customers or working as part of a team. Written communication: e.g. writing emails, completing an application form or essay, or a hobby that involves creative writing.
  • Attention to detail – e.g. cashing up on tills or proofreading coursework.
  • Organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks – e.g. planning events (personal or professional) and managing work-life balance, such as working while completing coursework or exams.
  • An understanding of and a passion for Channel 4’s remit.
  • GCSE Maths & English Grade C (4) or above (or equivalent).
  • Comfortable working with statistics, mathematics, and algebra.
  • Ability to undertake research and develop a simple narrative from findings.
  • An understanding of the user experience of social media platforms.
  • A basic understanding of Excel.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

  • You must be 18 years old or over at the time the scheme starts to apply. There is no upper age limit.
  • You’ll need to have a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE
  • You can’t have already completed the qualification being offered or similar at the same or higher level

  • Numerical Problem-Solving: Outline a time when you used numbers to solve an everyday problem, explaining your approach and the conclusion you reached. For example, do you create a monthly budget, split bills with friends, or manage savings? (Maximum 500 words)
  • Social Media Experience: Describe your experience with social media—how often you use it, which platforms you use the most, and what makes you want to watch a video on social media. (Maximum 500 words)
  • Streaming & TV Experience: Share your experience of watching streaming platforms and TV—how often you use them, which platforms you prefer, and what factors influence your decision to watch a new series or programme. (Maximum 500 words)
