Description
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work- Assist in the control of sites to ensure work is conducted safely, effectively and to the correct quality and standards.
- Understand and integrate design information to ensure it is fit for purpose – challenging the designer when there are challenges and instructing others to carry out the works.
- Assist and contribute to planning and setting up of work sites via different formats of communication.
- Assist in the monitoring and control of contract works and understand how to implement corrective action when required.
- Assist in preparation of material requirements, prepare orders, monitor supply and maintain records.
The apprentice will be joining a team delivering a huge variety of planned projects on the contract, ranging from carriageway and footway resurfacing schemes to major structure and highway improvement schemes.
The role would include a mixture of office and site based tasks to give you the well-rounded experience required to see schemes from conception into construction and completion. This would involve exposure to Health, Safety & Environment management, Planning and Co-ordination and Commercial management.

GCSE or equivalent in:

Your training course:
Civil engineering senior technician (level 4) Apprenticeship Standard. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
