Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation Apprentice

Salary: £22,048 per annum plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Location: Veolia Chilton, Chilton Industrial Estate, County Durham, DL17 0PB

Programme Duration: Up to 42 Months


Candidate shortlisting will take place during the week commencing 17th - 24th March, with assessment days scheduled between the week commencing 31st March - 7th April.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Maintenance and Shift Teams with health and safety by implementing safe work protocols
  • Carry out supervised maintenance work and fault finding on distributed control systems, programmable logic controller systems, analogue and digital instrumentation, and protection systems, ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permit
  • Ensure ECI compliance and manage statutory activities such as fixed wire testing, PAT testing, and calibrations
  • Complete and update maintenance work in the CMMS and produce reports
  • Administer safe work systems and health and safety policies

This apprenticeship programme provides the opportunity to develop practical and behavioural skills while gaining technical and professional knowledge essential for career success. Apprentices will work towards a Level 3 BTEC Technical Certificate, NVQ Competency Certificate, and safety training.


With many Veolia colleagues starting as apprentices, full support and guidance will be provided throughout the programme. By completion, apprentices will have received industry-standard training and attained qualifications that enable career progression.
