Grounds Operative

Salary/Hourly Rate – £24,924.12 per annum

Hours – 8am to 3.30pm Mon - Thu, 8am to 2.30pm Friday STC depending on season

Location & Postcode – Penrith, CA11 8GU

As a Ground Operative at FCC Environment, you will be expected to carry out numerous gardening duties, requiring a minimum amount of supervision.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week, however, we will consider requests for job shares to suit your lifestyle (working full days).

What will you be doing?

- Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting
- Lawn maintenance and cultivation
- Using and maintaining hand tools and basic light machinery
- Using cylinder and rotary mowers, strimmers, and leaf blowers
- Ensuring all equipment, machinery and buildings are secure
- Carrying out gritting, salt spreading, and snow clearing
- Assisting with the erection and dismantling of sports equipment
- Assisting with the initial marking and over marking of sports pitches, running tracks, and field events
- Preparing and planting rockeries, herbaceous borders and shrubberies
