Description
Rothley Park Kindergarten are delighted to have an opportunity for an Apprentice to join their team. Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Take part in timetabling and encouraging all areas of age development, ensuring variety and appropriateness of activities in your area in conjunction with other staff.
- Encourage physical development and well-being always. Be aware of age-related needs, prepare toys, activities and equipment for that age group to reach its full potential.
- Always give comfort and care. Children to feel welcome and safe.
- Work alongside parents of Special Needs Children to give full integration in the Nursery.
- Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
- Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
- To attend ALL out of work hours activities, e.g., monthly staff meeting, parents evening, summer fayre, Christmas party, etc.
- To be flexible within working practices of the Nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g., cleansing of equipment etc.
- Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.
- Recording accidents in the accident/Incident book. Ensure the manager has initialled the report before the parent receives it.
- Look upon the Nursery, as a “whole” where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children.
- To ensure that you fully understand all the policies and procedures of Rothley Park Kindergarten.
- To report any Health and Safety hazards to the Nursery Officer in Charge/Management team.
- To participate in any Training and Development to ensure that best practices can be implemented within the Nursery
- The preparation and completion of activities to suite the child’s stage of development.
- To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing.
- Washing and changing children as required
- Providing comfort and warmth to a poorly child
- To ensure the attendance of the children is carried out according to the procedures.
- To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, dietary requirements and stages of development

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Rothley Park Kindergarten will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:
•Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
•Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification
•Functional skills in Maths and English if required
This will be delivered through Rothley Park Kindergartens dedicated training provider, Realise.
