As a Welding and Fabrication Apprentice, you'll learn how to cut, shape, and join metal to create different structures while keeping your workspace clean and safe. You'll read technical drawings, use machines to prepare materials, and work with different welding techniques. You'll also be trained to safely lift and move heavy materials using overhead cranes. This hands-on role will help you develop practical skills and real workshop experience.

Description

Salary: £22,048 per annum plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Location: Old Quarry, Cemetery Road, Abercarn, NP11 5AQ

Programme Duration: Up to 24 months


Candidate shortlisting will take place w/c 28th April - 5th May, with assessment days between w/c 12th - 19th May.

What you'll be doing:

  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy, organised and safe from hazards
  • Manufacturing various assemblies, utilising metalworking techniques and different welding techniques
  • Interpreting and understanding technical drawings
  • Operating metalworking machinery safely and proficiently
  • Using overhead cranes and slinging techniques


Next steps:

Before further consideration, candidates must complete a short, gamified assessment. Successful candidates will then be invited to a virtual assessment day followed by a site visit.

During this programme, Veolia will help you develop your practical and behavioural skills and support you in gaining the technical and professional knowledge required for you to succeed in your career.

As well as this, you’ll also gain a Level 2 Fabrication and Welding Operative standard and a Competency and Technical certificate.
