Description
Our apprenticeships run in partnership with Rycotewood Furniture Centre in Oxford. Apprentices travel to Oxford to attend a one week block release at the start of each term. We pay for accommodation which depending on the apprentice's age may be in vetted Home Stays. The rest of the time they are working with our team and learning from them in our workshop with time set aside each week to work on college projects. We provide a workshop tutor and a education/pastoral mentor to provide support in all elements of the training.
Apprentices are entitled to the statutory 28 days annual holiday. They start on the minimum apprenticeship rate for their age group but this will be subject to annual review based on their progress and contribution to the team.

Experience of working with hand tools, power tools or woodworking machinery an advantage but not essential.
Willing to contribute to site work which may sometimes involve overnight stays paid for by the company.
We have no specific entry requirement but applicants who do not have grade 5 or above in English and Maths will be expected to complete functional skills work in addition to their college based training.
GCSE or equivalent in Design Technology or similar an advantage but not essential
The academic element of the apprenticeship is provided by Rycotewood Furniture Centre in Oxford via week long block release. Apprentices are also given an afternoon each week to complete their practical and theory assignments. The rest of the working week is spent in the workshop contributing to the manufacturing and fitting of client projects under supervsion from the team.
We provide regular refresher machine and health and safety training. All
our team are provided with First Aid at work training and we encourage individuals to request extra training in any areas of specific interest to them.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to an offer of permanent work within our team. Full time makers have the opportunity to continue to develop their skills working alongside very experienced cabinet makers and award winning designers.
