Opportunity Details
HR is the team that makes Lloyds Banking Group tick — ensuring every colleague has what they need to thrive, grow, and help Britain prosper. Apprentices join in a permanent role from day one, learning on the job, shaping the colleague experience, and studying towards a fully funded Level 5 People Professional qualification.
This two-year programme, based in Leeds, Bristol, or Edinburgh, includes a rotation: the first year in one HR area, and the second in another, offering a broader view of the profession while remaining in the apprentice’s home hub.
Apprentices may gain experience in areas such as:
- Reward – designing how the Group recognises and rewards its people.
- Talent – identifying and developing the best people for every role.
- Learning – creating opportunities for colleague development.
- Organisational Change – supporting major transformations.
- HR Partnering – working with leaders to shape people strategy.
Wherever they land, apprentices take on CV-boosting projects, real responsibilities, and make a genuine impact on the working lives of thousands. This is hands-on learning from the start — designing training programmes, supporting transformation projects, and partnering with teams to improve how the Group works.
It’s a chance to:
- See how HR operates in a major organisation.
- Get involved in transformational projects rarely seen in typical corporate roles.
- Build transferable skills for future career opportunities.
While making an impact, apprentices work towards their CIPD Level 5 People Professional qualification, supported by:
- A dedicated line manager invested in their development.
- A supportive apprentice community.
- Opportunities to network across the HR division and beyond.
By the end of the programme, apprentices won’t just understand HR — they’ll be ready to shape it. They’ll have the skills, confidence, and qualifications to take their career anywhere, having helped make Lloyds Banking Group an even better place to work.
