Opportunity Details
For those who thrive on small details and love solving problems, Audit at Lloyds Banking Group offers the ideal environment. Audit plays a vital role in keeping the business secure, fair, and future-ready — protecting the Group’s assets, reputation, and long-term sustainability. Apprentices are part of this mission from the moment they join.
Audit ensures that risk management, governance, and internal controls are robust and effective. The team works to keep the business — and its 28 million customers — safe by identifying risks before they become issues, making meaningful recommendations, and helping the Group remain fair, trusted, and resilient.
The Audit function includes an industry-leading Data Science unit, where AI is being actively explored and embedded into daily audit practices. Apprentices gain hands-on experience with these technologies, learning how innovation is transforming the profession.
This is not a passive learning experience. Within three months, apprentices begin working on live audits — observing, contributing, and eventually managing cases of their own. As they progress, they rotate through areas such as Business Banking, Insurance, and Technology, and also complete a six-month placement outside Audit. This provides exposure to teams like Finance, Tech, Risk, and Customer Services, offering a 360° view of how the Group operates.
The five-year apprenticeship programme, based in Bristol, begins in partnership with Kaplan, leading to the Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner qualification. After completing Level 4, apprentices continue their education with higher-level professional qualifications. During the first 18–24 months, Kaplan provides structured guidance, supported by workshops from the Institute of Internal Auditors on topics such as Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Audit Planning, and Interpersonal Skills.
Apprentices earn a competitive salary from day one, and all learning costs — including tuition, exams, study materials, and professional memberships — are fully covered. With a team of around 300 audit professionals working across a Group of over 70,000 colleagues, the career opportunities are vast.
By the end of the programme, apprentices won’t just understand Audit — they’ll be ready to shape it. They’ll have the skills, qualifications, and confidence to take their career anywhere, having played a key role in Helping Britain Prosper.
