Opportunity Details

They are looking for an enthusiastic worker who gets on well in a team. You will be handling young stock so must be competent handling horses. A fantastic opportunity for someone that shows an interest in breeding.


Aston Mullins is a beautiful farm in a tranquil village in the Vale of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.
It has two businesses running side by site, a Thoroughbred Stud and an Eventing Yard so there is masses of experience to gain.


This is a great opportunity for a level 2/ 3 equine apprentice to get stuck in with the daily running of the stud, including, but not limited to;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Feeding and filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing and rug changing
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Skills Required

  • Previous experience working with horses is essential.
  • A reference will be required

Qualifications Required

GCSE Level 4/ Grade C in Maths and English, or a willingness to complete equivalent functional skills.

Training

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Personal Qualities

Must be hard working, keen to succeed in the equine industry.

A good sense of humour is a must!

  • Progression to the Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship

Other Information

Accommodation available on-site if required.

Candidates must be 18 or over for this position and ideally have their own car as location is rural, please ensure you can make your way to and from the yard each day before applying.
