Prospects
We have a planned progression route for Accounts Juniors with each stage taking approximately 1 year. Each stage relates to a published salary band so that all team members can see how they may be able to progress, both financially and in terms of responsibility.
From Accounts Junior the next stage is Junior Bookkeeper. This builds on what you have learnt as an Accounts Junior, but you will also start to deal with Sales Ledger transactions and VAT. In addition, you will start to support the accounts production process.
From Junior Bookkeeper you will move to Senior Bookkeeper. At this stage you may look after small clients of your own, preparing VAT returns and simple management accounts. There is also the opportunity to be seconded to Payroll for a period so that you can develop your understanding of this work.
Finally the next stage is Accounts Senior. At this stage, you will have a portfolio of your own clients and will have primary responsibility for their ongoing finance management.
From Accounts Senior there are opportunities to get involved in more diverse areas of the business - which could be Project work (fixing very messy accounts) to advising clients on implementing finance systems to automate their processes as far as possible. Alternatively, you may like to take line management responsibility, or get involved in training work for clients.
