Household Waste Recycling Centre – Roving Site Operative

Salary: £12.47 per hour
Hours: 34.50 hours per week, 09:00 to 17:00
Location: Ampthill HWRC, MK45 2SA

As a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) Roving Site Operative at FCC Environment, you will play an important role in helping the public recycle effectively, reduce waste, and protect the environment. You will work across the Central Bedfordshire contract, assisting customers on-site and ensuring waste is separated into the correct streams.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

- Assisting members of the public with separating waste and recycling correctly
- Greeting and supporting site users to ensure safe and effective use of facilities
- Ensuring waste streams are stored safely and in accordance with permit requirements
- Identifying hazardous or contaminated materials and managing them appropriately
- Maintaining a clean and tidy site at all times
- Reporting any Health and Safety incidents in line with company procedures
- Working in line with FCC Environment policies, risk assessments and safe practices

What are we looking for?

- A full driving licence (desirable)
- Someone hardworking, honest, and trustworthy
- The ability to work well in a team and independently
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites within Central Bedfordshire
- The willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Good communication skills and previous waste/recycling experience (desirable)
- Experience with 360 plant excavator (desirable)
