Opportunity Details
This is an exciting role for a candidate that loves riding and feels at home on a variety of horses.
The location is based on a beautiful yard with an indoor school and horse walker. The property has 20 horses on site from foals to older horses.
You will have the opportunity to break in a variety of young stock and will exercise up to 7 horses a day to keep them fit for the owners. The employer will cover the costs of you having flat and jump lessons weekly. You are able to compete the horses also. The location breeds competition horses on a small scale every year and the family bred the amazing Tamarillo!!
General yard duties will include:-
- Preparing horses for shows
- Plaiting
- Grooming
- Riding
- Lunging
A truly great location which will allow you to treat the horses as your own. This apprenticeship is based fulltime on site in a practical setting so not lots of time spent in a classroom. If you did not achieve your Maths & English GCSE's at school we will support you to gain these whilst on programme.
Working standard hours are 7.30pm-4pm but a super flexible site so sometimes you will be done by 2pm. On show days you will be required to work different hours.
This apprenticeship is practical based onsite, so not lots of time spent sitting in a classroom. If you did not gain your GCSE's in Maths & English at school we can support you to get these whilst on programme.The interview will consist of a trial day working on the yard.
To apply for this role you must be a UK resident or have lived in the EU for 3 years. If you already hold a L3 Equine qualification you are unable to apply for this role.

Skills Required
To be successful in your application, you must be a competent rider.
Qualifications Required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English and maths is beneficial but not essential. If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.
Training
All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Prospects
For the right candidate, there will be the option to progress to the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship.
Once the apprenticeship has been completed, there may be the opportunity to move into full time employment
Other Information
Free accommodation is available on-site from mid-April, if you are unable to make your own way reliably to and from the yard each day.
However, there is no availability for you to bring your own horse into livery on-site.

St. Giles Animal centre are looking for a new apprentice to join the team, this is mainly based in the boarding kennels department.There is also the possibility of experience in day care, working with their dog trainer, groomer or in the offices. Hours are 32 per week (can be more or less) working on a 2 week rotational shift pattern to include working every other weekend, 8am to 5pm .

The fabulous team at Litchfield Equestrian based in Reading RG2 are looking for a level 2 or 3 equine apprentice to join their friendly, professional, family-run yard specializing in full competition livery, they are also a riding school and also buy and sell a small amount of horses and ponies, The ideal candidate will be 16-18 years old have an excellent work ethic, be keen to work as part of a team, and be confident in speaking to owners and clients.

Isaac Hall and his team at Wayside Lodge are looking for a new equine apprentice to join them, Isaac runs a 20 indoor box yard with mainly show jumpers , a few liveries and he also breeds around 5 foals a year there. He is looking for an enthusiastic young person with good basic equine experience who is keen to develop their equine knowledge .Hours 35-40 per week dependent on age, over 5 days, 8-5pm to include 1 weekend day per week.
