Opportunity Details

They are a horse and pony welfare charity with a strong ethos in the natural horsemanship approach.


This apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to work in an equine assisted therapy shape working to support peoples mental health and troubled past.

They are happy to accept a L2 or L3 Equine apprentice at this location. The apprenticeship is practical and therefore, not loads of time spent in a classroom. If you did not gain your GCSE's at school we can support you with this whilst on programme. Your role will include tasks like:-

  • Learn about natural horsemanship
  • Lunge horses
  • Muck Out
  • Groom them
  • Clipping etc


There is no accommodation on site and no availability for own horse.

In order to apply for this role you have to have been in the UK for 3 years or more.

The interview will take place at the location for a practical day.

They work on a 5 day rota for working hours which will be discussed.

Skills Required

An aptitude for being outdoors in all weathers and happy for hard physical work. A practical 'can do' attitude looking for solutions rather than problems. No previous experience or qualifications are required

Qualifications Required

A GCSE or equivalent pass in English and maths is beneficial but not essential. If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.

Training

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Personal Qualities

Kind, empathetic, caring in nature. Someone who recognises that there is strength in being gentle. Someone who recognises horses as somebody and not something.

Prospects

Previous apprentices have gone on to work in full time employment with equine assisted therapy.
