Opportunity Details

This is a varied and rewarding opportunity where no two days are the same. As a Quality Practitioner Apprentice, you’ll be involved in everything from facilitating risk prevention events and carrying out audits to finding innovative solutions that solve real business challenges and drive continuous improvement.

Throughout your placements within AWE’s Quality function, you’ll gain hands-on experience managing and reviewing company processes and procedures. You’ll learn how these are applied to meet contractual and regulatory requirements for AWE’s customers and stakeholders — supporting quality planning, assurance, control, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Alongside your practical training, you’ll also complete academic studies to achieve the Level 4 Quality Practitioner apprenticeship, giving you eligibility for professional registration with the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) at Practitioner grade upon successful completion.

This opportunity is ideal if you:

  • Have an eye for detail and enjoy improving how things work
  • Like reviewing documents and understanding how they apply in practice
  • Take a logical approach to analysing processes
  • Enjoy problem-solving and hands-on learning

The Benefits:

  • A starting salary of £23,500 yearly, increasing to £25,000 in Year 2 and annually throughout your apprenticeship — subject to meeting key milestones and performance expectations
  • Market leading contributory pension scheme
  • Generous holiday entitlement of 270 hours a year (inclusive of Bank Holidays) plus every other Friday off
  • Access to employee discounts portal - everyday savings on retail, hospitality and leisure
  • Employee Assistance Programme and Occupational Health Services

Alongside these benefits you will get the opportunity to learn from some of the top leaders in their field whilst helping AWE to continue to deliver national nuclear security, threat reduction and counter-terrorism solutions.

Recruitment process:

This vacancy closes on 7th December 2025, but applications are reviewed as they are received — so early applications are strongly encouraged. AWE’s recruitment process is designed to be fair, transparent, and straightforward, helping you perform at your best. It involves three simple stages:

Virtual assessment centre

Those successful at testing will be invited to a virtual assessment centre. The Assessment Centres are scheduled for 13th and 14th January 2026. Please note that these dates may be subject to change, but rest assured, AWE will keep all applicants informed throughout the process.
