Qualifications Required
A minimum of a 2:2 degree in any subject. Successful candidates must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the scheme. The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa scheme.
Training
Graduates receive on-the-job practical experience, mentoring, networking opportunities, and a variety of training courses. Guidance is provided by a placement manager (senior manager and line manager), a scheme sponsor (Head of Operations), and a development adviser (career coaching and progression support).

The recruitment process is inclusive, with guaranteed interviews for disabled candidates meeting essential criteria. Reasonable adjustments are available for any stage of the application process.
Assessment centres for graduates and intern roles take place from December to January, with most roles having only one assessment day. Assessment centres are conducted in person and virtually, depending on the role.
The application process consists of five steps, including online assessments to be completed within an allocated timeframe. Applicants should upload qualification certificates to their application. If final exams are pending or certificates need replacing, these must be provided later. Information and guidance are provided at each assessment stage. Applicants must pay attention to emails and deadlines, as online assessments must be completed within one week and cannot be re-issued after the deadline.
Due to the nature of railway operations, some working outside core business hours (9am-5pm) may be required, including shift work, nights, and weekends. Some placements involve shift working for the length of the placement, although 9am-5pm placements are also available.
