Opportunity Details
The Project & Programmes Graduate Scheme provides the opportunity to work across multiple areas in TfL, including PMO (Planning & Risk management), Project Management, Sponsorship, Construction Management, and potentially Project Engineering. Graduates who complete the scheme can move into roles in any of these areas, directly contributing to keeping London moving.
The two-year development programme consists of up to four placement rotations, designed to equip graduates with a broad range of skills and experience. Each graduate’s journey is unique, but an example structure is as follows:
- Placement 1: Planning Assistant / Risk Assistant (6 months) – working in a team responsible for project planning or risk management for multiple projects and programmes across Capital Delivery and Asset Performance & Capital Delivery.
- Placement 2: Assistant Project Manager (6 months) – working in a project team in TfL Capital, responsible for all aspects of managing a project, including scope, governance, and resource management. Responsibilities depend on the stage and details of the project.
- Placement 3: Construction (6 months) – gaining experience of managing construction projects in TfL Capital, with responsibility for aspects such as stakeholder management and quality assurance.
- Placement 4: Sponsorship – working in an area to learn about business cases, project initiation, and the role of a Sponsor.
There is flexibility for graduates to choose their own placements and tailor the scheme to their development ambitions.
