Opportunity Details
- Year 1: Participants build foundational finance and transactional accounting skills, gain experience across Record to Account, Project to Asset, and Reporting teams, support periodic financial activities, and maintain accurate accounts. Responsibilities include manual journal posting, account reconciliations, process improvements, managing the finance timetable, delivering real-time reports, and asset capitalization and depreciation.
- Years 2 and 3: Participants apply financial knowledge and develop business partnering skills, select placements across TfL’s delivery organisations, build trusted adviser relationships, support strategic decision-making, understand cost and income drivers, contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, and develop expertise in strategic placements such as Financial Planning and Analysis and Corporate Finance.

Qualifications Required
- A minimum of a 2:2 degree in any subject.
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the scheme. The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa scheme.
Training
Participants receive a wide range of on-the-job practical experience and placements, supported by training, mentoring, and networking. Guidance is provided throughout the programme by a placement manager, scheme sponsor (senior manager), buddy (apprentice or graduate), and development adviser (career coaching and progression).

Prospects
Upon completion of the scheme, participants transition into permanent roles that best suit their developed skills and the needs of the business. Potential roles include finance business partner, financial reporting accountant, and corporate finance analyst. TfL has a strong track record of supporting graduate alumni, with high retention and promotion rates, and many graduates progressing to senior management roles.

Application Process: The process consists of five steps, including online assessments to be completed within an allocated time frame. Applicants should read the document thoroughly to familiarise themselves with the process. Qualification certificates should be uploaded to the application. Assessment centres for graduates and intern roles will take place from December-January, with most roles having only one assessment day. Assessment centres are conducted in person and virtually (role dependent).
