With experience, you could specialise in a particular area like fire safety, or move into technical and planning roles in other departments, for example town planning. You could also work as a consultant.
Heating and ventilation engineers install and service heating and air conditioning in large buildings like factories, schools and hospitals.
Auto electricians fit and repair the electrics in motor vehicles.
Architects design new buildings and the spaces around them, and work on the restoration and conservation of existing buildings.
Foundry moulders make moulds to shape molten metal into castings used to make parts for industry.
Retail managers look after stores, motivate staff to achieve sales targets, organise promotional events and monitor industry trends.
Materials engineers research the behaviour of materials used in industry to make them stronger, lighter and more hard-wearing.

Your apprenticeship will last 36 months, and successful apprentices will achieve a Water Industry Treatment Process Technician, Level: 3 (wastewater pathway) standard, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships.You will need to be mobile in this role, well contribute up to 500 towards driving lessons and tests to help to get you on the road!
