Chemical engineering technicians help to research, develop and manufacture plastics, medicines, foods, textiles and fuel.
You can do a foundation degree in chemistry or higher national certificate in applied science, chemistry or chemical engineering. You'll usually need 2 or 3 A-Levels, or equivalent, including chemistry.
You may need 2 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D), or equivalent, for a Level 2 course. You'll need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, for a Level 3 course.

With experience, you could become a shift supervisor, eventually moving into maintenance or production management. You could also move into materials development and design, quality control or sales and marketing.
Rail track maintenance workers inspect and repair railway tracks, bridges, tunnels and viaducts.
Motorcycle mechanics service and repair motorbikes, scooters and quad bikes.
Maintenance fitters install, service and repair industrial machinery and equipment.
Naval architects design, construct, refit and repair marine vessels and offshore structures.
Aerospace engineering technicians design, build, test and repair civil and military aircraft.
Security systems installers fit and service electronic systems that detect intruders or control access to buildings and sites.
To apply you will need to have attained, or expect to attain by July 2025, either:1.A Degree; or2.A Level 4 5 qualification (plus 2 years relevant industry experience)Your qualification will be In one of the following appropriate engineering subjects*: -Physics -Computer Sciences -Mathematics -Engineering and Technology (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Telecommunications)Starting salary circa 37,000 (increasing to circa 43,000 on successful completion of the Programme)
