You could move into supervisory and management roles, with responsibility for a team of engineers. You might also set up your own gas fitting business, if you have a lot of experience. You could use your transferable engineering skills to switch to working on systems powered by alternative energy sources, like hydrogen.
Metrologists use very precise measurements in science and industry to make sure that processes and products meet high standards.
Gas mains layers install and maintain pipelines that supply homes and businesses with gas.
Cellar technicians install and maintain drinks systems in places like pubs, bars, hotels and restaurants.
Clinical engineers design, develop and maintain equipment for diagnosing illness and treating patients.
Building technicians support engineers, surveyors and architects on construction projects.
General practice surveyors are involved in the management, valuation, buying, selling and development of land and property.

Your apprenticeship will last 36 months, and successful apprentices will achieve a Water Industry Treatment Process Technician, Level: 3 (wastewater pathway) standard, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships.You will need to be mobile in this role, well contribute up to 500 towards driving lessons and tests to help to get you on the road!
